Introduction to the world of contemporary art, art history and art making.
Visual Arts
The Visual Arts program at Lord Selkirk Regional School is an exciting introduction to the world of contemporary art, art history, and art making. Students enrolled in Art have the opportunity to work in a wide variety of artistic styles and media, while learning about the history of art, and developing a personal artistic style. Lord Selkirk Regional School offers three different Visual Arts credits: Visual Arts 20F, Visual Arts 30S and Visual Arts 40S. Please see the registration guide for prerequisites.
Student Art Show
Each May, the Visual Arts program joins with the Advertising Art program to put on a student art show. The show is an opportunity for students, staff, family and friends to come out and see some of the outstanding work produced by students taking Art courses at the Grade 10, 11, and 12 levels.
Art Trip
Grade 11 and 12 Visual Arts students at Lord Selkirk Regional School are eligible to take part in out of province art trips that happen approximately every second year. The art trips allow students to see world renowned art and architecture, and to supplement the learning taking place in class. Art trip destinations have included Chicago, Minneapolis and New York.
